What is kombucha?

Bubbly? Effervescent? Vinegar tea?

We’ll admit it: the infographic is a little silly, but we do not think it is too far from the truth.

When we at Brewch first heard about kombucha we definitely went through each phase. At first it was a disgusting, hippies only beverage. Then we began to be curious, and kombucha moved from repulsive to intriguing. Now we at Brewch are of the mindset that kombucha can be pretty life changing.

On a basic level Kombucha is fermented sweet tea. The good stuff is slightly carbonated and often flavored with an array of assorted veggies, spices and fruits.

Kombucha benefits your gut and many people claim it provides them energy. Kombucha is a nice alternative to soda, because it can contain significantly less sugar. People also consider it an alternative to alcohol due to an alcoholic taste but a much lower ABV.

There are people out there who will milk the kombucha benefits. Us at Brewch are perhaps a little more realistic.

Will Kombucha cure incurable diseases, save you from ever experiencing IBS again, and give you superpowers? I wish it were the case, but we have not discovered the elixir of life quite yet.

At the end of the day, Kombucha, like any other beverage means something different to everyone.

So, what does it mean to you? Let us know in the comments below.
